About the Forum

The NUS–IHME Global Burden of Disease (GBD) Research Centre officially launches on Monday, 2 February 2026, in Singapore. Established as a regional hub for policy-relevant health metrics, the Centre is dedicated to advancing evidence-based decision-making across ASEAN through collaborative research, capacity building, and strategic partnerships.

In conjunction with the launch, the Centre is hosting a Regional Policy Forum themed "Accelerating Data-Driven Policy for the Future of Population Health in the ASEAN Region." The programme features a keynote address by Professor Chris Murray (Director, IHME) and four thematic plenaries co-organised with leading partners: healthy longevity, nutrition and lifestyle, climate-related disease burden, and the future of ASEAN health. Join senior leaders from academia, government, and healthcare as we set a collaborative agenda for regional health impact.

NUS-IHME Global Burden of Disease Workshops

Overview

Following the launch of the GBD Research Centre, NUS and IHME are hosting an intensive four-day GBD Regional Workshop. Led by expert faculty from IHME, this programme is designed for professionals across government, academia, and health systems in the ASEAN region.

 

What You Will Learn

This workshop offers a practical introduction to the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) study, equipping participants with the tools to translate data into action. Key focus areas include:

  • GBD Fundamentals: Understanding core methods and analytical frameworks.
  • Policy Application: Interpreting GBD results to inform evidence-based policy and practice.
  • Data Systems: Examining regional challenges regarding health data availability and quality, and exploring opportunities to strengthen health information systems.

 

Building Regional Capacity

Through interactive sessions and peer exchange, the workshop fosters sustained collaboration among government agencies, academic institutions, and technical experts. Our goal is to strengthen the region’s capacity for high-level health analysis, policy translation, and practical applications.
